The Hayes Accura V.92 External Faxmodem is a high-performance, external 56k faxmodem that plugs into the serial port of computers using Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix, or other appropriate operating systems.This external faxmodem's performance is enhanced by an on-board DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and ITU V.92/V.44 standard compatibility. The V.92 standard and its companion V.44 compression standard dramatically increase the speed of Web browsing, file uploads and connect times. The automatic negotiation or "handshake" at the inception of a call is generally more than twice as fast with Hayes Accura's V.92 faxmodems than with V.90 modems.
