DescriptionCarved by hand in smooth tweneboa wood, elegant motifs surround the base of this beautiful djembe drum. Nana Adu Amankwapam I names it Okyeame II, Akan for "Spokesman." This title is usually conferred upon the king's personal messenger. The goatskin head is affixed by iron rings wrapped in cloth, while macram? cords repeat the up-and-down patterns incised below. |
